Three vintage watches with textured dial
Waffle, Honeycomb and Linen are just some of the unofficial names of vintage watches whose dials echo what their name wants to evoke.
These are textures of quadrants with strong wefts and capable of adding character to a watch that is already of great quality.
In fact, if most of the dials on the watches are opaque or semi-gloss, the pattern is usually less emphasized than color.
But in the case of some models it is the pattern that plays a leading role.
As in the case of the 1950s automatic Wittnauer with the "waffle dial" and viewfinder motif, often found on watches from the 50s and 60s and Swiss automatic movement.
Or the Bulova Jumbo Day Date Automatic, an extravagant watch with an unusual 1970s look combined with a coin-shaped bezel and the shape of a sports case.
And again the Tudor Prince Date + Day 76200, with a silvered embossed dial, sober but unique and absolutely original.
