Rolex is a key player on Instagram
As Luca Grasso, watch expert and CEO at Rocca Gioielli, says: “Rolex watches are undisputedly fascinating and transversal, so much so that it is impossible to identify a precise type of admirer. Celebrities or anyone else who comes to the boutique to buy a vintage Rolex, all have extremely different personalities.”
To prove it are the highest paid stars on Instagram, each of whom has been photographed wearing a Rolex on his or her wrist. Starting from Justin Bieber who, with 115 million followers on Instagram, often wears the gold Daytona he bought in 2013. Then there’s David Beckham who shows a sporty flair. In fact, he owns a Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea Rif. 116600 Ceramic Black, a Rolex Submariner and a GMT-Master.
With almost 185 million followers, Cristiano Ronaldo owns an authentic collection of luxury watches including an Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, a pink gold, Rolex Sky-Dweller Everose, one of the most complex modern watches, and a ROLEX GMT-Master II in white gold with diamonds, sapphires and rubies.
Even the female starts that dominate the Instagram scene love Rolex watches. Kim Kardashian, for example, sports a gold Rolex Datejust, a model created in 1945 as a self-winding watch and the first wrist stopwatch on which the date was inserted at 3 o’clock.
Among the most highly paid on Instagram is the unforgettable Chiara Ferragni who seems to have a true passion for luxury watches: “As you can see from her Instagram profile, Chiara Ferragni sports several Rolex watches in her photos on the social networks and at events. The star owns a steel and gold Rolex Submariner with blue bezel, the inevitable Cosmograph Daytona, a black Submariner and a particularly valuable, yellow gold and diamond Day-Date 40.”
Rolex is therefore much loved by stars and collectors alike: whatever the cost, investing in this type of watch is a winning move because they are bound to increase in value over the years at a different rate depending on the rarity and fame of the model.
