Nexus, the jewellery exhibition to promote peace
Inaugurated on 24th February and open until 11th May, the International Exhibition of Artistic Jewelrley at the Carlo Lucidi Contemporary Art Gallery in via Mameli 16 G, Monterotondo (RM), is presenting the works of eight international contemporary artists, who have worked with raw and precious materials and different languages to create wearable works of jewellery art.
"Nexus: connections of matter and messages in contemporary jewellery” is a journey through different cultures to explore the world of artistic, conceptual and contemporary jewellery. The leit motiv is the appreciation of diversity and culture in distant countries, even those with difficult situations, through the beauty and originality of the jewellery on display.
Inbar Avneri, Israel, with fairy-tale jewellery of pure poetry; Nana Watanabe, Japan, who uses fabric to evoke the world of nature; Austin Turley, USA, who experiments with glass in structures that seem to have been injected; Wenyin Jiang, China, who has designed and created jewellery as if it were a means of communication between space and time; Lamia Saab, Sweden, with her provocative work of high political and social impact, inspired by incommunicability; PhaniaC, Italy, with jewellery-clusters with a Mediterranean flavor; A little piece of C, a work by artist Berna Daou, Lebanon, on the beauty of Arabic calligraphy; Daria Lutskevich, Belarus, who speaks of her land through a special, indigenous material.
«Nexus is an exhibition that explores the multiple possibilities of contemporary jewellery,» said the exhibition's creator and curator, Carlo Lucidi. «The jewellery on display are works of art that speak of peace, beauty, creativity and social commitment.»
