Next Jeneration Jewellery Talent Contest 2017: premiati i migliori giovani talenti internazionali

Next Jeneration Jewellery Talent Contest 2017: premiati i migliori giovani talenti internazionali

The six winners (three awards and three special mentions) from some of the most prestigious international design schools competed on the topic “Jewel and Function” by sending interesting design solutions on how contemporary ornamental jewellery may become a useful object.

A jury of experts, chaired by Gijs Bakker, designer and founder of Droog Design, -demonstrating once again the international stature of the initiative -, which comprised Luisa Bocchietto, Architect and Designer and Past President of ADI, Association for Industrial Design, Alba Cappellieri, Director of the Jewellery Museum in Vicenza and Professor of Design at the Politecnico di Milano, Marco Romanelli, designer, and Pilar Cabo Coin, Marketing Manager of “Roberto Coin S.p.A.” and Past President of the Italian Women’s Jewellery Association, evaluated the participants’ work.

The three winners and three participants selected for the special mention were chosen by the jury for having interpreted the topic of this edition, “Jewel and Function”, in the most creative and innovative way by offering a number of design solutions that referred to different areas, in a rich assortment, to define the function of jewels that can be useful both in relation to clothing, the body or the environment, and in their symbolic or practical significance.

Federica Giuseffi placed first with the silver-plated ring “Avvolgimi”, which allows to cover broken fingernails, adapting to the finger size thanks to its spiral shape. Sara Meneghelli placed second with the gold-plated brass foulard-stop/bracelet “Elipso”, a jewel adaptable to multiple user functions. Antoine Cousin placed third with the silver and rubber bracelet “Merken”, which focuses on an ornamental memory process.

The Jury also considered it appropriate to grant three special mentions to: Yulara Casadei for the copper and silicone rubber earphones and pendant “Twi(re)st”, designed to overcome the problem of earphones being lost in your handbag; Cristina Fava with the gold-plated brass necklace and mirror “Ri-flex”, with a magnifying glass combining functionality and spirituality; and Kari Ramstad Fjeld for the gold earrings and silicone caps “BeeQuiet”, with which you can isolate yourself from noise.
