Jewels & water
In many parts of the world water is taken almost for granted, but in California, after a long period of drought, people today preserve it and are deeply aware of its importance. Jewelry designer Maria Canale has long reflected on the importance of water and its beauty and on March 22nd , World Water Day, launched the "Every Drop Counts" charity campaign.
The initiative will donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales of the pieces from the Drop and Wave collection to Water.org, an organization that helps provide drinking and sanitary water. The Drop collection has a luxurious style but is perfect for every day, with a sprinkling of sapphires that enchant color and brilliance.
Wave necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings are more formal and created with various shades and sizes of blue sapphires. At the heart of the "Every Drop Counts" initiative is a pair of dangling diamond earrings with a rare pear-shaped blue-green diamond representing the ocean that highlights one of the earrings and an intense yellow pear-shaped diamond which symbolizes the sun in the other. "Pure and clean water is the most basic of the elements of life and must be available to every human being on the planet," says the designer.
