Important jewels at Ponte Casa d’Aste
Leader of the sector, Ponte Casa d’Aste, will auction important jewels, with a selection of high jewelry, on May 26th and 27th. The protagonists of the first core of the catalog are the diamonds: first of all the drop diamond from ct. 16.44, unique of its kind for color and purity (lot 591, estimate € 700,000 - 1,200,000). Following the broche in white gold with two round brilliant cut diamonds respectively ct. 10.87 and ct. 10.95 (lot 587, estimate € 90,000 - 140,000 and finally the extraordinary necklace of round, baguette and carré diamonds, for a total of about 32 ct. (Lot 590, estimate € 42,000 - 48,000).
The section of precious stones with bright and richly toned gems continues: five sapphires to scale for a total of ct. About 17.30 set in the 1920s Liberty bracelet, openworked and embellished with a 19 ct round diamond pavé. (lot 584, estimate € 46,000 - 52,000), followed by a Burmese ruby of ct. 4.98 (lot 589, estimate € 60,000 - 90,000) and finally an octagonal emerald of ct. About 5.20 (lot 588, estimate € 65,000 - 85,000).
The large space dedicated to the goldsmith's art of the nineteenth-twentieth century crosses other examples of excellent manufacture, such as the powder compact of the master Giovanni Janesich in yellow gold, with ivory back and lid and platinum, diamonds and lapis lazuli on the sides, made during the his stay in Paris for the 1925 Exposición internacional de Paris (lot 554, estimate € 9,000 - 10,000) and the necklace of yellow gold, enamels, pearls and diamonds that belonged to a Piedmontese noble family and renovated to pay homage to the Royal House ( lot 522, estimate € 3,300 - 3,800).
The last section is dedicated to the great protagonists of goldsmith design who contributed to writing the history of jewelry: Sterlé with the yellow gold necklace and pendant with cabochon ruby on platinum and diamond petals (lot 551, estimate € 7,500 - 9,500 ); Van Cleef & Arpels with numerous pieces including a diamond-finished bow broche with etoilé setting (lot 583, estimate € 22,000 - 27,000); Boucheron with a rose-like broche in yellow guilloché enamel, finished with a teardrop diamond (lot 539, estimate € 5,200 - 5,800) and finally the creations of the Italians Nardi and Bucellati and the iconic Tiffany & Co.
