The partnership between leBebé and Treedom continues
Two years ago, the project made it possible to create a new forest of 200 cocoa plants in Camerun, a choice that helped not only the environnement but also the local communities who were able to transform these plants into a source of income by selling the harvest (crop) in local markets.
This year leBebè opens the second chapter of the project that will involve the creation of a forest in Kenya. “We chose Kenya because in this area it is possible to develop small-scale agroforestry project involving groups of women, thus supporting their emancipation and independence – commented Andrea Pennacchioni, marketing and sales director of the brand – leBebè Gioielli addresses, in fact, to a female audience and we believe it is our duty to develop projects and partnerships that have the aim of helping and supporting women, wherever they are in the world”.
The new forest, which will host 200 fruit trees, will involve farmers in the management and care of the new plants and, at the same time, will allow them to obtain sustenance for their families.
With the planting of trees in Cameroon and Kenya, an absorption of about 77,000 kg of CO2 from the atmosphere is expected, thus contributing to the protection of the entire planet’s biodiversity.
